I feel like I’ve made a strong start with my reading for the year in January! I did only read seven books but they were rather long, so I’m letting myself off with that.
In January I read:
- For Whom The Belle Tolls by Jaysea Lynn
- The ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas (five books)
- Priest: A Love Story by Sierra Simone
Seven books in total! My TBR list is growing ever longer, especially with some of the recent Stuff Your Kindle deals that have been happening. I also recently came across a new author, R A Sandpiper on TikTok. Her new book, the third in the Amefyre series is coming out this year, so I fully intend to read the two previous books in the series in February to get myself up to speed. She recently posted on TikTok announcing that applications for ARC readers would be open soon so, I’m keeping my fingers crossed I manage to get one when the time comes.
I’ve already written a review for For Whom The Belle Tolls and it’s save to say, I adored it. A review is coming soon for the ACOTAR series, whom my friend convinced me to try (hey Rach!). And for the final book… I’m just gonna leave that for now. I rated it a 2.5/5 at best and while it was just a mindless spicy read, I discovered I’m not a huge fan of sex scenes written from a male perspective. Whilst all of the “activities” in the book were enthusiastically consensual, there were some background plot points that just made me a little uncomfortable too.
My complete TBR list is far too long to list here but can be found on Goodreads! So here are the books I want to get through in February:
- A Pocket of Lies – R A Sandpiper
- A Promise of Blood – R A Sandpiper
- Kingdom of Claw – Demi Winters
- The Hurricane Wars – Thea Guanzon
- Belladonna – Adalyn Grace
- Foxglove – Adalyn Grace
- Wisteria – Adalyn Grace
For the rest of the year:
- Rouge – Mona Awad
- A Dowry of Blood – S T. Gibson
- The Life Impossible – Matt Haig
- The Voyage Home – Pat Barker
- Medea – Rosie Hewlett
- Atalanta – Jennifer Saint
- Hera – Jennifer Saint
- Year of the Reaper – Makiia Lucier
- Four Seasons in Japan – Nick Bradley
- A Tempest of Tea – Hafsah Faizal
- There Are Rivers in the Sky – Elif Shafak
- Moonstone – Laura Purcell
- The Full Moon Coffee Shop – Mai Mochizuki
- The Map of Bones – Kate Mosse
Are there any upcoming releases anyone’s really excited to read? I’m looking forward to Kingdom of Claw by Demi Winters in particular, and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. I hope you had a gentle January and the start of the year has been good to you.
